God’s creative power shows up in hidden spots, like under a mat in the back yard, where a family of Eastern Red-backed Salamanders scurried away from my prying eyes. As I was leaving for errands, my upstairs neighbor called out, “Do you like snakes?” So I followed him to where he and his young kids were consulting a field guide to identify a sleepy little brownsnake and half a dozen or so of these tiny creatures. If he hadn’t stopped me and invited me over, I never would have known they were there. Sometimes the Holy Spirit whispers in ways we can’t understand, and sometimes it’s as simple as an invitation: “Do you like snakes?”
