Children, Youth & Family Ministry

Our Nursery, for infants through age four, includes toys, books, and a playset for your Little One. Also waiting is our experienced childcare staff who serve on Sunday morning as well as during many special events. Parents are welcome to stay with their children and listen to the service on the speaker located in the nursery. Also available for parents who want to stay in the nave during Services, two double-wide pews with a rocking chair and books. Please ask an usher if you'd like to be seated there.

Our Pre-K through 3th graders get to know Jesus and his teachings in age-appropriate Scripture and faith lessons at weekly Children’s Chapel Jr. during worship and through other interactive offerings and service projects during the month. Families are also invited to other activities that include nature walks, “Eat, Pray, Play” gatherings at a family’s home, beach excursions, and seasonal fun like Pet Blessings, Christmas Pageant and Palm Parade! 

Middle-schoolers (4th-8th graders) are invited to take part in Children’s Chapel Sr. and our interactive Sunday morning offerings.  This age group is also invited to join Spirit Quest, a community of 8-11 year-olds who gathering to conquer a quest, serve, pray, and have a little fun during Coffee Hour each week.  

Teenagers and preteens are invited to grow in their leadership skills and faith while serving God through social justice initiatives, as mentors to our younger learners, and in service to our church community. Our new Upper Room Youth Group for 12+ year-olds meets with clergy to discuss scripture monthly. In addition, our teens serve as acolytes and livestream operators during worship and as leaders in various church activities.  

Confirmation Preparation Classes

Confirmation is a sacramental rite in which a mature Christian affirms their faith, surrounded by the prayers of their community. This is a meaningful practice for people who were baptized as infants, and is particularly appropriate for teenagers and older adults. We are planning to host confirmation classes in the winter, for those hoping to be confirmed in the Easter Season in 2027. The Way of Love: Confirmation Preparation —Deepen and confirm your faith as we explore the Way of Love, a summary of Christian belief and practice put forward by the Episcopal Church’s Presiding Bishop, the Rev. Michael Curry. These four sessions serve as Confirmation preparation for those wanting to be confirmed in the 2027 Easter Season.

All Classes start at 12:30pm on the following Sundays:

• February 7 at St. Paul & St. James Church, 57 Olive St., New Haven

• February 21 at St. Paul & St. James Church

• March 7 at Trinity Church on the Green, 230 Temple St., New Haven

• April 4 at Trinity Church on the Green

Young adults through senior members of our community are invited to enhance their ongoing faith journeys with this ministry. Share your time, talent, and love for God with our younger members as an advisor, retreat leader, or witness. Connect with Angela to share your ideas and explore opportunities. 

Parking is safe and easy: Free street parking on Sundays; Free parking at Yale Lot 51, off of Temple, located 1.5 blocks from the church; elderly and handicapped parishioners can park on the apron in front of the church (limited).
