Introducing Organ Scholar Gavin Klein

Gavin Klein is currently pursuing a degree in Organ Performance at Yale University. He is a recent graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, where he earned a B.A. in Music and Economics. While at Holy Cross, Gavin studied organ with Dr. Ezequiel Menéndez. His previous teachers include Henry Mason, William Ness, Kevin Neel, as well as Dr. Johann Klopp, with whom he studied harpsichord and clavichord. In 2025, Gavin was named in The Diapason magazine’s “20 Under 30” and won second place in the National Undergraduate Organ Competition in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Gavin’s musical journey began at a young age, singing in the choir at All Saint’s Episcopal Church in Worcester, MA— something which he credits as the reason he loves both organ and sacred music. He is currently the Organ Scholar at Trinity Church on the Green in New Haven, and his past positions include Organ Scholar at Holy Cross, Organist at St. Bernard Catholic Parish in Worcester, and Artist-in-Residence at the Harvard Historical Society. 

When not at the organ console, Gavin loves the outdoors, especially fishing, hiking, and sailing.
