In Connecticut, nearly one in five children is hungry or food insecure and does not get enough food outside of the free meal programs provided by the public schools. Hunger doesn’t take a break, so Jewish Family Services' Food4Kids is working to alleviate this situation in our local area.
At a meeting in June, our Spirit Quest Youth Group decided this would be their next Quest: feeding hungry children by collecting food for them. The most-needed items are:
Granola bars (nut free)
Fruit cups and bars (low sugar, if possible)
Juice boxes
Kids cereal
Applesauce
Pudding cups
