Building Attendant

Part Time Position 

The Building Attendant position provides an essential service to the Church by ensuring a safe environment for people using the building.  Responsibilities primarily include staffing the building while it is in use. Reports to and is supervised by the Head Sexton.

Hours: 

Position is up to twenty hours per week, mostly during the late afternoon/evenings.  Additional hours may be requested for special events. The pay is $18/hour.

Duties:

Assists in creating a welcoming and safe environment for church members, choir members, and visitors with special attention to the safety of children and elderly.

Provides a visible presence during the arrival and departure of parishioners and choristers from the church building, particularly during the late afternoon/evening choir rehearsal times.

Set-up for and staffing of recurring events, meetings, and for special gatherings, such as receptions or exhibits, may also be required while the building is in use.

Basic Qualifications:

·      A demonstrated awareness of surroundings and the ability to respond promptly and appropriately to problems related to the building and property.

·      Attention to details and a cooperative attitude.

·      Ability to perform tasks independently, with little to no supervision.

·      Willingness to join a team and cooperate with other staff members and volunteers.

·      Any offer of employment will be contingent upon satisfactory completion of criminal background check. Completion of Safe Church training (Episcopal Diocese of CT) will be required within 45 days of start date.
